Read on for more information.
1. Listen To Employee Feedback
If you’re looking to identify problems within the organization, you should ask your employees for advice.
Your staff will be able to tell you the issues they have with their jobs and how they think they can be overcome. It’s likely they have spent a long time figuring out solutions to the problem, but, may have been too shy to share.
By listening to them, you’ll get expert advice and develop trust. They’ll feel valued and this will increase motivation and loyalty.
But, if you fail to listen to them, the opposite will happen and the problems may become larger.
2. Trust Your Staff
Great film directors give actors the freedom to create the best character possible. They don’t scrutinize everything they do and choreograph them. This should be the same for you and your staff. If you hired them, then you must have seen something great in them.
Let them have some responsibility and the freedom to make their own decisions. If they prefer working a certain way, then allow it if they are more productive.
You shouldn’t be on their back 24/7 and making every decision for them. They won’t feel valued and it’s likely they’ll stop caring.
3. Give Praise Often
Who doesn’t like being told well done for a great job?
Praising your employees should be at the top of your agenda. When people are praised, they are happy, feel valued, and often strive to get more praise. This is why parents give praise to children whilst being potty trained. It enforces good behavior and tells them to repeat the action.
You should aim to praise each employee regularly and really mean it. Take them aside and tell them why you’re pleased with them. Reward them with extra perks like going home early and paid lunches.
By doing this, it’ll teach them that they get rewards for doing a great job. But, if you don’t praise your employees, there’s no motivation for them to push themselves.
